CYMATICS: Speaker powder artwork

Here is a cool link. This work was created by putting lycopodium powder on a speaker and photographing the abstract, non-referential patterns that surfaced. (Then the artist set the final images to music.)

There are some interesting relationships between 3D rendering and effects and this work. Physical means (the camera) capture the images digitally, and those are then digitally distributed. The patterns which are created arise mathematically, which are normally created nowadays using computer programs. Using a physical means to create these patterns is a statement in itself.
